At Townsend Community Center, we believe that everyone deserves to feel great about themselves and to know they are an important part of the community. Our programs and services are designed to make a difference in the lives of the people of Richmond and surrounding areas, especially those who have historically been overlooked.
Building a strong community takes all of us, those in need and those who can provide assistance. Take a look at some of our offerings below and contact us by calling (765) 373-9012 if you need help or if you are able to assist us in providing these and other services that would be a blessing to our community.
HARAMBEE YOUTH PROGRAM
Harambee is a Swahili word meaning “all pull together”. At TCC, that is what we do. This after-school program provides time for work as well as play, as kids meet at Starr Elementary School after classes and finish their homework together. Upon finishing, the children are encouraged to play in the gym or help each other out. Once a week special guests come to help with an art project! Harambee ends with a nutritious dinner provided by Reid Health before the parents arrive!
With our partner, MainSource Bank, we are able to provide the basic tools to teach our children as well as their parents why and how to save money. They learn how to write checks, pay bills and maintain accurate records of their finances.
